Offer Description
The department/research group IVON of Prof. Dr. Josef Penninger at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig, Germany is offering a position as
Doctoral Researcher (f/m/d) - Production and gene editing of organoids
The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research GmbH (HZI) is part of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, the largest scientific organization in Germany.
At HZI, researchers focus on developing strategies to improve the fight against infectious diseases. Their aim is to create new methods for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious compounds by studying both bacterial and viral pathogens and their interactions with the immune system, while also investigating new compounds with potential therapeutic effects.
Our group focuses on organoid-based research, employing techniques for functional insight in health and disease. By utilizing organoids, we surpass the limitations of traditional cultures, creating realistic representations of human tissues. This enables deeper understanding of organ function and diseases, ultimately enhancing therapeutic effectiveness.
We are offering a position for a doctoral researcher, enabling the opportunity to work in a pioneering field of research. In this role, you will utilize a range of tools to establish various organoid models, incorporating genetic modifications and screening for active compounds in physio- and pathological states. With state-of-the-art methods, you will investigate disease-induced modifications and develop strategic plans for future projects.
