About
The VALIE EXPORT Center at the Linz University of the Arts is offering a Junior Fellowship for doctoral students and a postdoctoral fellowship.
The VALIE EXPORT Center at the Kunstuniversität Linz processes, researches, contextualizes and communicates the legacy of VALIE EXPORT. As an internationally oriented research center, it promotes artistic and scholarly engagement with media and performance art. The VALIE EXPORT Center is part of the Kunstuniversität Linz.
The dissertation project or postdoctoral research project must meet the following requirements:
Within the framework of the research complexes that will occupy the VALIE EXPORT Center in the coming years, forms of the performative, performance, and conservation (in museums, in the theater, in public space) are to be explored based on VALIE EXPORT's work and practice. Ongoing research focuses on: Curatorial forms of displaying archives, documentation, conservation, and performance practices of the performative.
The two fellows are expected to engage with the archival holdings located at the Center, so on-site work with archival materials is continuously necessary. The research can be focused on the work of VALIE EXPORT herself or on the field of performative/medial practices in general.
The two fellowships are endowed with EUR 1,200/month (junior fellowship) and EUR 2,300/month (postdoc) and are initially awarded for 12 months, but can be extended for a maximum of 24 months if the evaluation is positive. This includes a research position at the Kunstuniversität Linz and participation in the Center's activities. More than a minor outside activity in addition to the fellowship is not possible.
The application can be submitted in German or English and must include the following documents: - Resume / CV incl. list of publications
- Letter of motivation (1-2 pages)
- Exposé of the dissertation or research project (approx. 10 A4 pages, incl. time schedule) - Abstract
- Scan of the degree certificates to check the admission requirements for the PhD program
Final selection of fellows will be made on the basis of interviews on November 22, 2021. Expected start date of the fellowship is December 1, 2021.
Applicants are not entitled to compensation for accrued travel and accommodation expenses incurred as a result of the admission process. Please send written applications in digital form to Katrin.Petroschkat@ufg.at no later than October 31, 2021.
